We’re hiring!

We are looking for a passionate and experienced play worker to join our team to deliver free play sessions to users of our site. The role will involve hands-on delivery of free play sessions, overseeing users on a 10:1 basis, facilitating environments for young people to engage with one another in a physical, challenging and stimulating environment. We are looking for someone who understands the benefits of free play, can work in all weathers, doesn’t mind getting messy, can think creatively and most of all has a passion for developing play opportunities for children.

 

Hours of work:

Term time: Wed-Fri 3-7.30pm (13.5hrs/wk)

School holidays: Mon-Fri 10am-5pm (35hrs/wk)

Average 18.9hrs wk.

Additional opportunities for overtime supervising children’s parties also available.

 

Salary:

£12,000 p/a

(£22,250 pro rata)

 

Duties:

Supervision of young people during free play sessions

Facilitate user-led, free play during sessions

Participation in pre-session briefings and post-session debriefings

Setting up and closing down of site and equipment

Ensuring site is kept clean and tidy and equipment is in working order

Assisting senior play worker in programme and session design when necessary

 

Essentials:

Up to date DBS certificate

Minimum of a level 2 play work/play-related qualification

Experience of working in different play settings

Excellent verbal communication

An engaging, enthusiastic attitude

 

Desirable:

Experience of working within an adventure playground setting

Knowledge of risk assessment and\or health and safety legislation concerning adventure play

Experience of working with vulnerable young people

Experience working with young people with SEN
